In the UK the NHS is constantly striving to improve the cancer services provided for patients and their families. Women with gynaecological cancer should receive their care from a dedicated team of experienced healthcare practitioners.

The Stour Centre was opened in April 2004 to care for women having surgery for gynaecological cancer and is part of a dedicated specialist gynaecology department which carries out complex and specialist gynaecological cancer surgery. Patients are referred to the Centre from Ipswich, Colchester and Chelmsford. This is partnership is managed by the Essex and East Suffolk Cancer Network (EESCN).

Your consultant gynaecologist and the multidisciplinary team have advised you that you need to attend the Stour Centre at Ipswich Hospital for your surgery. All you medical details will be forwarded to the centre. Once you have recovered from your operation and are well enough to travel you will be referred back to your local hospital where an appointment will be made for you to see your doctor to discuss any further management options or treatment.

Contact the Stour Centre on 01473 704788 or 703665. Specific contact numbers for staff can be found on Meet the Team.
