17 August 2017

Ipswich Hospital has been ranked in the top 50 Acute Hospitals in the country for recruiting into clinical research studies.

In 2016/2017 our Trust Research Team increased participation into research by 12.6% from 2015/2016 giving the opportunity to take part in clinical research to 2,911 participants.

The Research Activity League Table is published by the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) annually to detail research activity across all NHS trusts and CCGs in England. The table provides details of how much clinical research and how many patients are involved in clinical research.

The number of participants recruited into clinical research studies in 2016/17 exceeded 665,000, the highest number of clinical research participants since records began.

Frances Farnworth R&D Manager said:

“ We would like to thank all those who give up their time to take part in our research studies.  We believe that the experience and outcome is better for our patients if we are a research active hospital.  Our Trust has a growing reputation for delivering good quality research over a wide range of departments which is made possible by our Trust research team who work tirelessly and flexibly across different disciplines supporting each other”
