We are recruiting children (over 5 years) and adults diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in the last 6 months to the ADDRESS 2 study. The After Diagnosis Diabetes REsearch Support System aims to provide researchers with a resource of people that can be approached for cutting edge research. There are new studies that require early recruitment / treatment so to make this possible the people that have joined ADDRESS 2 would be approached directly. If you are interested please contact one of the Research team for further information.

Norfolk Diabetes Prevention study

The Norfolk Diabetes Prevention Study is about adult onset type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). It has been running in Norfolk for the past few years and has just been rolled out in Suffolk. Before people develop T2DM they go through a pre-diabetes phase where the blood glucose level is slightly raised for some time (often years). This stage is called impaired fasting glucose (IFG) or pre-diabetes and means that there is an increased risk of going on to develop type T2DM. Improvements in diet, weight loss and exercise may reduce the chances of people with pre-diabetes developing T2DM. This study will test whether this diet and lifestyle programme, the Norfolk DPS, can reduce the chance of developing diabetes. Screening is taking place within Ipswich Hospital at present, we will screen up to 3,780 potential participants.
