Training and Development Opportunities

We have developed links with the University of East Anglia and West Suffolk College, and provide input into regional education and training courses and study events. The Department fully supports the development of staff through Continuing Professional Development and appraisals. 

The scope of our training and development program at Ipswich Hospital:

  • structured training and education program for rotational clinical pharmacists;
  • Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) Level 3 Diploma (NVQ) in Pharmacy Service Skills and Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science for Pre-Registration (student) Pharmacy technicians;
  • Postgraduate diploma in General Pharmacy Practice for registered pharmacists;
  • Pre-registration pharmacist training scheme;
  • Level 2 Certificate (NVQ) QCF in Pharmacy Service Skills alongside an e-learning package for Pharmacy assistants; and
  • Other training for registered pharmacists – such as non-medical prescribing.

The team:

  • lead pharmacist for Education and Training;
  • Technician Services manager responsible for technician, pre-registration (student) Pharmacy technician and Pharmacy assistant training; and
  • A range of tutors, mentors, NVQ assessors and internal verifiers.
