Welcome to Ipswich Hospital
Our Passion, Your Care
Come along and meet our fertility experts
08 February 2017

People will be given the chance to find out about the wide range of fertility services available at Ipswich Hospital at a special event taking place next Saturday (18 February).

The ‘meet the fertility experts’ morning is open to anyone keen to learn more about the services which are available locally to improve their chances of having a baby.

During the event, guests will hear first-hand from a mum-to-be who is expecting twins after receiving at Ipswich treatment last year.

The fertility team will also give updates on the treatments which are available, which include medication, surgery, IVF and intrauterine insemination, which sees the healthiest sperm put into a women’s uterus when she is ovulating. They will explain which options are available to self-funders as well as those available on the NHS following a recent decision by NHS Ipswich and East Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group to continue funding two rounds of treatment for qualifying couples.

In addition, they will talk about Ipswich’s partnerships with Cambridge IVF and Guy’s and St Thomas’ in London, which gives patients the chance to start their IVF treatment at Ipswich and then have egg collection and embryo transfer at one of the specialist centres.

“Having difficulty conceiving is not unusual, with one in six couples having difficult at some point in their lives,” said fertility consultant Djavid Alleemudder. “We are here to help improve their chances and support them through the journey.

“Saturday’s event will give people the chance to ask questions in a friendly, relaxed environment while finding out more about what we can do to help. We are happy to hear from people at all stages, whether they are trying for a baby, planning for later life or are keen to improve their chances before they even start to try.”

‘Meet the fertility experts’ takes place between 10am and 12 noon at Ipswich Hospital’s Education Centre.

There is no need to book and guests can park for free in the hospital’s car park ‘J’. For further information, please contact matron Hannah English on 01473 704236.
