New Simple Equipment Clinic will help people continue to live independently
12 April 2018

People in rural areas can now visit a weekly clinic to collect equipment to help them stay living independently.

A Simple Equipment Clinic has been launched at Hartismere Health and Care in Eye and will be open every Monday 10am to 4pm.

There, people can be seen by an occupational therapist assistant and be helped to choose, test and order the equipment they need, meaning they don’t have to wait for a professional to visit them in their home.

Alison Smith, Director of Community Services at The Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust (pictured) officially opened the clinic and said: “It was lovely to visit Hartismere and meet with those who provide care for people in our more rural locations.

“The aim of this new Simple Equipment Clinic is to provide care closer to home, reducing travelling time and improving access to care and equipment that enables people to live as independently and safely as they would wish, with or without support by our community health and social care teams.”

People wanting to go the clinic can either drop in on a Monday, 10am to 4pm (there may be a wait) or call Customer First on 0808 800 4005 and someone will be in contact to arrange an appointment.
