Staff at Ipswich Hospital take on the Three Peak Challenge for young patient Charlie Trenter
Hospital team's mountainous challenge
09 October 2017

Several colleagues have completed a mountainous task in aid of a young boy.

The group, including five-year-old Charlie Trenter’s mother, nurse Sarah, took on and completed the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge in just over 24 hours, on September 23-24, and have so far raised over £5,000.

Charlie suffers from Severe Haemophilia A, meaning his blood does not clot properly and has been supported hugely by three charities, Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (Haemophilia Fund 9302), Molly Olly’s Wishes and Beads of Courage UK.

The group, known as ‘Charlie’s 3 Peak Bleeders’ climbed Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and, finally, Snowdon in aid of the charities.

Sarah, a recovery nurse at our hospital, was joined by recovery colleagues Jo Garnham, Cola Garrett, Tiz Hubbard, Craig Galloway and Ewa McHardy, along with Needham ward nurse Caragh McQuitty and Sarah's friends and family.

Sarah said: “I am really pleased with how the challenge went and I am so grateful to the fantastic team, who did it. They were so inspirational, they were incredible.”
