Find out more about stoma care
28 February 2017

Stoma nurse specialists from our hospital are holding an information day where patients, families and carers can find out more about stoma care products and the support  available locally.

The event takes place on Wednesday 15 March at Kesgrave Community Centre, Bell Lane, Kesgrave.

Information will be available about stoma care products, as well as local groups which offer support to people with an ostomy, which is a pouch used to collect waste when one end of the large intestine is diverted through an opening in the abdominal wall, called a stoma. Stomas are usually created following treatment for bowel cancer, and can also be used to help with conditions such as Crohn’s Disease.

A morning session will run from 10am to 12.45pm, while a second afternoon session takes place between 1.30pm and 3pm. People are welcome to attend either session.

For more information, call the stoma care office at Ipswich Hospital on 01473 703301.
