Best care in Breast Care
23 May 2013

Ipswich Hospital's Breast Care nurses at the House of CommonsOur Breast Care nurses have visited the House of Commons to share their recipe for success with the nation.

Kim Collingridge and Julie Calcluth have worked in partnership with the Anthony Nolan Trust (a blood cancer charity) on a literal ‘recipe’ for patient care booklet.

Ipswich’s contribution to the booklet is about making pledges to patients at the beginning of their care which explains the standards patients can expect.

It begins “Method: Give careful consideration to which ingredients will complement each other well…then add in generous servings of drive and commitment.”

Kim Collingridge, lead breast care nurse specialist at the hospital said: “We are very proud and feel honoured that our work has been highlighted in this way.

“At the event we took the opportunity to network with other organisations and hope that this will lead to more opportunities to put Ipswich at the forefront of change and improved patient care and experience.”

The event at Westminster was hosted to demonstrate partnerships between charities and the NHS. Ipswich Hospital’s pledge work has been developed with the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
