What will happen at my appointment?

Hearing aid assessment

Hearing aid assessment can be carried out at either Ipswich Hospital, Felixstowe General Hospital, Hadleigh Health Centre or Stowmarket Health Centre .

The audiologist will ask you about the hearing problems you have been having and other questions about your general hearing health. They will then look in your ears to make sure they are clear of wax and healthy, then conduct a hearing test. This will involve you pressing a button when you hear a number of different tones. From this, the audiologist will discuss the results and your options with you. If required they will finally take the shape of your ear for a moulded ear piece.

Hearing aid fitting

All hearing aid fittings take place at Ipswich Hospital.

At this appointment, the audiologist will check the hearing aid is comfortable in your ear and set up the hearing aid for your unique hearing loss. The audiologist will give you options about how you might like the hearing aid to work for you and make sure you are happy with the sound. They will finally tell you everything you need to know about the hearing aid, how to use it and how to take care of it.
