General Data Protection Regulations

Your personal information is very important to you and to us. The way your information is collected, retained and used has changed substantially over the years with the development of new technologies and as such the laws that govern the use of a persons personal data are also changing to encompass these developments.

In May 2018 the UK will have to adhere to the new data protection laws . These laws will be known as the “General Data Protection Regulations” (GDPR)

1. You’re better protected

The new rules make sure that all organisations are set up to protect any personal data they hold, and to act appropriately if something goes wrong.

Rest assured, robust security has always been a crucial part of everything we do.

2. You have more control

The new regulations support your right to have your privacy respected and your data protected. It will give you easier access to the personal information we hold about you, if you wish to check or change it. It is designed to give you confidence that your data will be accurate, up-to-date, and well-managed.

3. You can choose who contacts you, and how

In the coming months, you may be asked for your consent to be contacted with relevant information. You can control if and how you want to be contacted, for example by post or by phone.
4. You can change your mind

Remember, every organisation must provide you with the opportunity to change your mind about the choices you have made. This is intended to give you options and keep you in control.
