Data Protection and Confidentiality

We take patient confidentiality extremely seriously at this hospital and would like to assure our patients we only share your medical details if there is a genuine clinical need. The sharing of sensitive information is strictly controlled by law.

We comply with nationally agreed best practice guidelines on reporting the type of care and outcomes, but a patient cannot be identified from this information.

We do not sell patient information or share it with anyone who does not have a legal right to it.

We aspire to deliver the Department of Health’s strategy ‘No Decision About Me, Without Me’ and willalways do our utmost to keep patients informed about their care. All our wards and clinics display a notice on how your personal information is used as part of your healthcare episode here at the hospital. Who is responsible for keeping information confidential?

Everyone working in the NHS and those who work with us to provide your care has a legal duty to keep information about you confidential.

We also have a Caldicott Guardian who is ultimately responsible for patient confidentiality. Details of our Caldicott Guardian are:
