Mr Groot-Wassink qualified from the Humbolt University Berlin in 1991 and underwent general surgical training on the Cambridge surgical rotation, with observational periods in New York (MSKCC), Baltimore (John Hopkins), Berlin (Charite), Heidelberg (University Hospital), Sheffield (Royal Hallamshire), Lille (University Hospital), and Seattle, WA, USA (The Swedish Hospital). During his PhD studies he participated in the HPB MDTs at Hammersmith Hospital London. He was appointed as a Consultant General Surgeon with a specialist interest in upper GI/hepatobiliary surgery in 2005.

Mr Groot-Wassink has experience in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for hernias, gallstones and reflux disease, and has an additional interest in parathyroidectomies. He performs upper and lower GI endoscopies. He also has experience in complex upper GI and hepatobiliary operations. Mr Groot-Wassink is surgical audit lead and champions the participation of Ipswich Hospital in the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Programme.

Profile:
Mr Sinclair qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1991 and underwent specialist surgical training on the Cambridge surgical rotation. He was appointed as a Consultant General Surgeon with a specialist interest in upper GI / hepatobiliary surgery in 2002.

Mr Sinclair has experience of laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for hernias, gallstones and reflux disease. His endoscopic skills including ERCP, upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy. He also has skills in complex upper GI and hepatobiliary operations including surgery for morbid obesity (weight loss surgery).

Mr Sinclair has led the development of many patient safety measures within the hospital and is currently involved in a departmental quality improvement programme.

Profile:
Mr Youssef holds the qualifications of MD, MSc, MD (London), FRCS Ed, FRCS Gen Surg and CCT.

He has been a consultant general and vascular surgeon at Ipswich Hospital since July 2012. Mr Youssef started his training in general and vascular surgery in London, where he was awarded an MD in surgery from the University of London. He finished his training in Bristol and the South West. He also completed a fellowship in Birmingham.
Currently, he is the lead for emergency surgery since 2013 and has a special interest in laparoscopic abdominal and abdominal wall surgery. Mr Youssef is heavily involved in the GMC re-validation project for doctors.
