Preparing for Your Appointment

If your appointment time or date is unacceptable, please contact the Unit as soon as possible.
If you need to cancel or rebook your appointment, please telephone 01473 702115, 2pm – 4pm, Monday – Friday.

Some of the documents you may receive from the Endoscopy UnitWith your appointment letter you will also receive an information booklet about the test you will have and, if needed, bowel preparation with an advice leaflet. The information booklet advises on what you can expect during and after your test. Please read the consent form but do not sign it. The care plan should be completed as far as you are able to – this enables the team looking after you to have the information necessary for a safe test. It is important to list any conditions you may have, any previous operations, major illnesses and anything else you think we may need to know. Please also list any medications you are taking.

If applicable, if you would like sedation for your test, please indicate who will be collecting you as you should not drive home. You will also need someone to be at home with you for four hours after the test. The person collecting you will need to come to the Endoscopy Unit to collect you.

If you are taking iron tablets, please stop taking them two weeks before the procedure. Please ring the Unit as soon as possible after you receive your appointment letter if you take warfarin or any other anti-coagulants, clopidogrel, have diabetes or have had a pacemaker fitted.
