Respecting Diversity User Group
The Respecting Diversity User Group was established to reflect the local community served by Ipswich Hospital. The aim of the group is to give guidance and advice to the Trust on particular needs and concerns from the multi-cultural mix of Suffolk, assisting the Trust in meeting the needs of the local population, on both a clinical and spiritual basis.
The Group consists of volunteers from organisations concerned with diversity issues in the community and recent patients of Ipswich Hospital. A large part of the group’s work is cultivating, understanding and opening channels of communication that are effective for all.
The aim is that everyone is able to access their local hospital with ease, respect and dignity. Members look at issues such as language, communication, education awareness and dietary needs alongside religious, clinical and spiritual needs which can impact on clinical services and care.
