Overview: Grundisburgh Ward is part of the Constable Suite, a complex care area caring for patients with multiple medical conditions.
Visiting times: Visiting times are 10.30am – 3.30pm daily. This area cares for people with complex needs and many of the patients have a dementia or delirium (acute confusion). We have taken the decision to reduce the noise and activity on the ward late afternoon and evening to help patients to remain calm and prevent agitation, restlessness and confusion (‘sundowning’).
Please assist staff by only visiting during the above times, unless you have made other arrangements with the ward sister or charge nurse.
Lunch is a protected mealtime so please do not visit between 12.15pm and 1.15pm unless you are helping with a meal.
No of visitors per bed: We request that there are only two visitors at a time and children under 12 should not visit. We ask that visitors are considerate to the needs of other patients on the ward.
Meal times: Breakfast        8am
Lunch             12.15pm
Dinner            5pm  Refreshments will be served during and in between meal times.
Anyone wishing to assist their family member with meals should discuss this with the nursing staff.
Other information: Good communication is very important to everyone: the patient, the family carer, relatives, friends and the nursing team. We would therefore be grateful if. with the permission of the patient, one person such as the family carer or a relative or friend becomes the 'key
contact' to enquire about the patient's progress during their stay on the ward, and then passes this information on to others who may be concerned. All other information can be found in the 'Staying as an Inpatient' booklet
