Directions from entrance to clinic: From main outpatients reception walk straight across the corridor to far end, turn left and continue to the end of the corridor. Turn right to ENT reception desk. View hospital map.
Overview: Conditions dealt with in the ENT clinic include, ear, nose and throat problems, head and neck cancer, facial skin lesions, neck lumps, allergy testing, balance problems, voice and swallowing and thyroid problems.
Clinic times: Monday to Friday 9 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 5 pm
What to expect at your appointment: Patients will be seen by an ENT doctor for discussion and examination. Treatment will be given in clinic or a prescription given for medication required. You may be included on an operation waiting list if necessary. If you have an ear problem you may need a hearing test or cleaning of the ear using microsuction. For nasal conditions a nasoendoscopy may be performed.
Throat conditions may require a flexible laryngoscopy (a small flexiscope will be passed through the nose to the back of the throat so that vocal cords can be examined).
When and where to get results of any tests: Following your appointment your results will be sent to you by letter or you will be asked to attend a further appointment.
