Postnatal Care
A team of nursery nurses and maternity care assistants support the midwives at the Ipswich Hospital and provide early postnatal. If there are no complications, you and your new baby can soon go home where your community midwife will continue your care until the baby is 10 days old. After that, your Health Visitor will take over your care. In addition, Midwives provide an emergency on-call service for all new mothers while their babies are less than 28 days old.
The East Suffolk Maternity Services Liaison Committee monitors the maternity services provided by the Ipswich Hospital. The committee has a lay chairperson and members who are healthcare professionals and users of the service.
