What happens to the lesion once it is removed?

Dr Coppen, consultant histopathologistThe skin lesion removed will be sent to our Histopathology Department to be examined closely to determine the nature of the specimen. We normally have the results within four weeks, but sometimes further analysis of the specimen is required and so occasionally we will have to wait a little longer. If you are worried, please contact the Macmillan Skin Cancer clinical nurse specialist on 01473 704717 to discuss your concerns.
